What is Patches Game?

Patches Game is a free online grid puzzle inspired by LinkedIn's popular Patches game. Your goal is simple: cover every cell of a 6×6 grid by drawing rectangles (patches) around clue cells. Each clue tells you the size and shape of its patch.

Unlike LinkedIn Patches which requires a login, our version is completely free and works in any browser — no account needed.

How to Play Patches

  1. Look at the clue icons on the grid. Each has a shape type and a number.
  2. Drag to draw a rectangle around a clue cell.
  3. The rectangle must match the clue's required area and shape.
  4. Rectangles cannot overlap — each cell is covered by exactly one patch.
  5. Fill all 36 cells to solve the puzzle!

Square— width = height (e.g. 2×2, 3×3)
Wide— width > height (e.g. 3×1, 4×2)
Tall— height > width (e.g. 1×3, 2×4)
Free— any shape, area must match
Any— no constraints

Is Patches Game the same as LinkedIn Patches?

Patches Game is inspired by LinkedIn's Patches puzzle but is an independent free-to-play version. No LinkedIn account needed! Think of it as a LinkedIn Patches alternative you can play anytime.

Is it free? Are there limits?

Yes, completely free with no ads or sign-up required. Unlike LinkedIn's version, all puzzles are unlimited and unlocked from the start — play as many as you want.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes! The game is mobile-first and works great on phones and tablets. You can even install it as an app from your browser.

Can I install Patches as an app?

Yes! On iOS, tap Share → "Add to Home Screen". On Android, tap the menu → "Install app" or "Add to Home Screen". On desktop Chrome, click the install icon in the address bar. The app works offline too!

Is there a daily challenge?

Yes! A new puzzle is featured every day as the Daily Challenge. Solve it to build your streak counter. Miss a day and your streak resets — come back daily to keep it growing!

Are there games similar to LinkedIn Patches?
